Event Collects 1,836 Toys For Children
2015’s Christmas in the Nighttime Skies goes down as one of the coldest in its 25 year history. The bonfires were roaring a little higher this year, and some folks had to retreat to their cars for quick warm-ups, but that didn’t stop almost 1900 people from attending. Admission to the holiday extravaganza, which includes hot dogs, chili, hot chocolate, a visit from Santa Claus, bon fires and a fireworks display, is one unwrapped toy for the Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army to distribute to underprivileged children in our community.
Christmas in the Night Time Skies started at Kimberley Nursery on West Chubbuck Road 24 years ago and moved to the Bannock County Fairgrounds 16 years ago when the nursery closed. “We just wanted to do something to get the community together and help other people to have a nice Christmas,” said Vicki Jenkins, one of the original organizers of the event.
“We can’t express enough how much we appreciate Farm Bureau’s continued involvement and support for this event and we always look forward to working with them.”, she said. “We live in a very giving community, it makes me feel good. The more people we have the more kids we can help to have a good Christmas.”
