They’ve become part of our every-day, and we’ve learned to depend on their immeasurable assistance during our travels. But just as airports, hotels and transportation companies have begun to accommodate your devices by offering online reservations/check-ins and “easy online payments”, criminals have begun to exploit theses conveniences for their own gain (and your loss!).

It’s one of our least popular wintertime activities. Snow shoveling is a repetitive activity that can cause muscle strain to the lower back and shoulders. A 2009 medical study on snow-shovel-related injuries and medical emergencies, published in The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, found that on average, 11,500 people across the country suffered snow-shovel-related injuries and medical emergencies every year. The study showed most of these injuries occur to men, and happen around the home.

Since 1996, Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho has been a proud sponsor of Christmas in the Night Time Skies and this year is no exception. Starting at 5:00 Saturday, November 29th, the 24th annual event will kick off at the bannock County Fairgrounds with chili, hot dogs and bonfires. A fireworks show will begin at 8:00. The Marine Corps Toys For Tots Foundation will be at collecting new toys as event admission, which will be distributed to less fortunate children in our community.

Pocatello-area Veterans and current Armed Services personnel and their families are invited to attend this celebration featuring a Meet and Greet, a traditional flag ceremony performed by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard, recognition of Veterans with a brass quintet playing military branch hymns, a guest speaker, luncheon, Veterans slide show, free photo portraits for Veterans and current Armed Services personnel, and a complimentary gift. This year’s guest speaker is Daniel Scarborough, a twice-wounded Veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
